Lodge · Mount Etjo Safari Lodge
Set within the private, 36,000-hectare Okonjati Game Reserve near Kalkfeld, about 220km northwest of Windhoek. Founded in 1975 by conservationist Jan Oelofse — the animal supervisor behind the film Hatari! — Mount Etjo was one of Namibia's first private game reserves, and it is where the 1989 declaration leading to Namibian independence was signed. Guest accommodation ranges from standard rooms to a Luxury Villa and the waterhole-facing Elephant Lodge, and the property is especially known for its lion and cheetah feeding and for 230-million-year-old fossilised dinosaur footprints found on the reserve.
